Kuala Selangor District Council has carried out the Operation of Premises and Foreign Hawkers on 6 August 2020. This operation is carried out around Saujana Utama area.

The operation was carried out as an action to the premises suspected of being carried out by foreigners conducting business without a valid license from MDKS and hawkers taking foreigners as assistants.

As a result of the operation, two car wash premises, a tire spare shop and a barber shop were confiscated and ordered to close immediately under the Trade, Business and Industry Licensing (MDKS) By-Laws 2007 and Central By-Laws. Among the equipment seized were vacuums, air compressors, foam sprayers, tires, tire rims and haircuts. Nine compounds were also issued for various offenses such as running a business without a license, displaying advertisements without a license and doing obstruction.

At the same time, a local hawker was also confiscated for doing business without a valid license and permit from MDKS. The inspection also found that the hawker had hired foreigners as assistants.

The Hawker and Small Traders Activity Policy in the State of Selangor states that hiring foreign assistants or workers is not allowed under the hawker license. Applications to hire assistants or employees must be from Malaysian citizens only. Seizure action may be imposed under By-Law 42 (1) of the Hawker By-Laws (MDKS) 2007.

The operation involved 12 members of the MDKS Enforcement and started from 3.30 pm to 7.00 pm. The community is encouraged to channel complaints related to MDKS services online at
