SHAH ALAM, Oct 4 (Bernama) - Selangor has received an increase in tourist arrivals from Japan by 211.38 per cent, increasing by more than 40,000 within a year from January to April 2017 compared to the same period last year.

Tourism Selangor general manager Noorul Ashikin Mohd Din said the increase was boosted by Tourism Selangor's cooperation with the country's travel agency in an effort to attract more Japanese tourists to Selangor.

"This year, Tourism Selangor and Kuala Selangor District Council (MDKS) took the opportunity to collaborate with the Hakuba Tourism Association. "This is to promote tourism areas such as Kuala Selangor and Hakuba Goryu, Japan. "Of course, this partnership is an initiative and encouraged the cooperation of tourism prospects between the two cities," he said.

Earlier, Tourism Selangor joined the Tourism Expo 2017, at Tokyo Sight - from September 21-24. Noorul Ashikin is optimistic that the collaboration could be the best platform for the Selangor government to promote the entry of foreign tourists to Selangor.

He said the commitment was in tandem with the Discover Selangor campaign and Heart Of Malaysia which was to introduce Selangor to the outside community.
